The generation that built China's all-conquering badminton machine. Zhang Jun and Gao Ling won two Olympic golds together in mixed doubles. Zhang Ning won back-to-back Olympic golds in women's singles (2004, 2008). Xia Xuanze and Chen Hong gave China world-class men's singles depth. This cohort laid the foundation for the Lin Dan era that followed.
